A Fusion of Irish Design | Irelands Eye Visit Ballilogue

Posted on

Irelands Eye recently visited The Ballilogue Estate in Kilkenny and fell in love with the fusion of heritage and contemporary design. We decided it would be the perfect place for a lifestyle photo shoot. Set in the beautiful countryside, the estate offers a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life.  What makes The Ballilogue Estate so unique are the old, stone houses juxtaposed against the contemporary architecture and interiors. The fusion of rustic, chic, and contemporary decor is beautifully executed and very refreshing.

Irish Design…

Ballilogue is home to many Irish craft pieces such as ceramics, art, cushions and rugs which are sourced locally and decorate the interiors.  The cool tones and natural surroundings promote a calming and tranquil atmosphere. Surrounded by the luscious country side, Ballilogue is idyllic for the break away you’ve been lusting for.

Contemporary Twist…

Our ethos at Irelands Eye is to take Irish heritage and give it a contemporary twist, and this ideology is also seen at Ballilogue. The old stone walls and natural wood furnishings contrast to the modern steel and glass finishes. The airy, bright open spaces are filled with natural light. We loved photographing some of the pieces from our 2016 collection in theses spaces.

A Visit to Kilkenny

Kilkenny is a craft and foodie hub, with Kilkenny Design Centre being a big attraction. Kilkenny is also home to Highbank Orchards, which produces the award winning Highbank Orchard Syrup, Cider and Organic Apple Spirits. The Taste of Kilkenny Food Trail is a great way to visit some of Kilkenny’s finest food places such as Knockdrinna Cheese, Goatsbridge Trout Farm, and Lavistown House which is known for its mushroom hunting and foraging.
