Inspired by the Irish Coast – Showcase 2017

Posted on

It’s hard to believe January has come upon us again, and it’s time for one of our biggest events of the year – Showcase! Last year we blogged about the inspiration behind our 2016 stand at Showcase, we focused on the fusion between past and present Dublin, and the contemporary architecture in Dublin hugely influenced the design of our stand. This year, the Irish coast has influenced our stand, our brochure, and our collection.

A coastal theme runs throughout this years collection, from the new colours in the collection to the photography, the brochure, the stand – our countries rugged coastline has been our muse!

We have gone back to our roots and held our 2017 Photoshoot in the fishing village of Howth, and around the Island of Irelands Eye – the island that lent our company its name all those year ago. Our view has always been to fuse style and functionality, to create sweaters that are warm and protect from the elements while being contemporary in design. That view is more evident than ever in this years collection.

During our photoshoot, we took the Irelands Eye Kilcullen knitted boat out on the water and sailed around Irelands Eye Island to capture the Aran sweater in its natural habitat. The images we captured around the island and on the sandy beaches encompass what we are about – creating timeless pieces designed to protect, to be loved, worn and eventually handed down. We strive to create pieces of luxury that are comforting, and eventually become heirloom pieces from years of being worn and loved.

Our choice of colours in our 2017 collection has been influenced by the rugged Irish coast, with rich greens, blues and stormy greys being the focus of the colour palette. The various elements of the coast such as the water, the mossy rocks, the sky – whether it be silvery grey or pink during sunset – can be seen across collection. We have created knitwear that is perfect for wrapping up against the elements and breathing in the salty air at the coast.

As always, we strive to create a stand at Showcase that is visually exciting, evokes emotion, and tells our story. We created a nautical vibe on our stand this year as we wanted to bring a piece of the rugged Irish coast to our customers, and provide a true sense of who we are and where we came from.

“Sail away from the safe harbour, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover”

We will be sharing lots of images and videos of our stand and our new collection on our social media channels so make sure to follow our Facebook , Instagram and  Twitter !

Compliments abound all the time when I wear your sweaters and people are often surprised when I I tell the brand story ( as if I’m on commission!) And their availability in foxford woolen mills here in Westport.
Indeed I have prompted quite a few in their 20s and 30s to consider your clothing line where they would never have otherwise…

The natural materials and most critically that theyre locally made, makes it easier to justify investing.

    Keep it up 🙂
